Around 35 enthusiastic students from Government Inter College (GIC) Chidderwala, studying in Classes 6 to 9, took part in an Elephant Conservation Awareness Programme aimed at nurturing compassion, creativity, and conservation ethics among young minds. The programme combined learning with art, where students creatively expressed their commitment to wildlife conservation by designing and crafting elephant masks, turning imagination into a powerful conservation message.
The participating students come from Chandi Plantation, Chak Jogiwala, Balkumari, Chidderwala, Sahabnagar, Gumaniwala, and Nawabwala villages located along the fringe areas of important elephant corridors of Rajaji tiger reserve and Dehradun forest division. Living close to these corridors, the students witness human–elephant interactions firsthand, making awareness and coexistence practices especially relevant to their daily lives.
Through interactive sessions and creative activities, students learned about elephant behaviour, the importance of natural corridors, and the need for peaceful human–elephant coexistence. The activity encouraged them to see elephants not as threats, but as vital contributors to forest ecosystems.
At Nature’s Buddy, we strongly believe that conservation begins with awareness. When children understand, feel, and create, they become ambassadors of change within their families and communities. Empowering young minds today lays the foundation for a future where humans and elephants can thrive together in harmony.
